Why did you choose to pursue a legal career?
I have always wanted to work in a job where I can provide a voice for people that either lack the confidence or the capability to do it for themselves. I thoroughly enjoy tackling contentious issues and putting my opinions forward in order to find the best solution for the client, which is a crucial aspect of being a lawyer.
What do you enjoy most about your job at Thaliwal Veja?
The people that we represent in court are people who really need our help. In some cases, they can be some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Being in this line of work and knowing that we can change someone’s quality of life encourages me to go above and beyond on their behalf. It also helps to have an excellent team behind you, which I am fortunate to have in abundance.
What has been your highest career achievement so far?
I am proud to have successfully completed the Barristers Training Course where I achieved a very competent grade. I was subsequently called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. As the first person in my family to graduate with legal qualifications, this was an extremely proud moment for me and my parents.
What are your career plans / ambitions?
I intend to remain in the law, either as a Barrister or as a Solicitor. I have a passion for advocacy and tackling complex issues and my aim is to be regularly involved in complex court cases.
A little about you?
I am an avid Leicester City Football fan. I also play football and have done since the age of 5. I enjoy walking and I travel to the Lake District every year to take in the extraordinary views that the Lakes have to offer.
