At the heart of the discussion was the intention to highlight the difficulties faced by refugees seeking asylum status on the grounds of their gender or sexuality. The discussion was part of a series of events held by the university to raise awareness of the refugee situation. The radio broadcast gave much needed publicity to the refugee cause and allowed Bushra and the other panel experts to speak up for those without the strongest voice.
